Isaiah 61:1-4 (NKJV)
1 “The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon Me, because the LORD has anointed Me to preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound;
2 To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all who mourn,
3 To console those who mourn in Zion, to give them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they may be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified.”
4 And they shall rebuild the old ruins, they shall raise up the former desolations, and they shall repair the ruined cities, the desolations of many generations.
2 Corinthians 3:17-18 (NIV)
17Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. 18And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord's glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.
We hold the above verses to be vital to who we are as a church and the call of God on our lives. Jesus announced His ministry to those of his home town as being one of preaching good news to the poor, binding up the brokenhearted, proclaiming freedom to captives and opening the prisons of those bound in chains (Lk. 4:18; Is. 61:1). The fact is that everyone gets bound by hurt and sin in their lives and Jesus came to set anyone free if they want it. At the Freedom Centre Church we have the same passion and hope that you will find freedom in Christ with us.
